Well, my numbers came back to the point where the oncologist decided I was fit enough to continue with my chemo plan. So Wednesday this week I started cycle 2. Three rounds down, only five to go. They have reduced the amounts of 2 of the drugs I'm taking with the idea that it shouldn't hit me as hard this time around. I said to him that I really don't want a repeat performance of last week at the end of each cycle.
I'm feeling OK -ish. I'm definitely much more weary than last time, but that could be that I'm not starting off at such a high point. Don't know. What I do notice is that after I've eaten I have to sit down and have a little rest for about 45 minutes as I become very tired all of a sudden. I had that a little last cycle but this time it's more pronounced.
Also I notice a bit more hair in the shower, on my brush and pillow this past few days. I guess I could be heading for the 'baldy' state. Time to buy some hats.
Fortunately my veins seem to be tolerating the chemo pretty well. Nothing really of any great note there.
I do notice that after this last juice-up, my tummy has felt a little more unsettled. Not to the point of stopping me from eating, but it does seem a little sensitive. I'm down about 10 Lbs so far, not bad I suppose.
Hoping to find a little energy from somewhere so i can get out and do some things. The beach is always good since it takes little energy to get there and lay out. Of course, some cooperative weather would help.
Don't have any other news.
Be well you all,
Chris
Hang in there Chris. I am sorry to hear you are getting all these side effects, but it does not sound like it is too severe (other than your "ugly" week in the hospital). I am starting cycle 3 this Tuesday and expect the fatigue to be a little more pronounced. Funny thing is that my blood counts seem to steady, still within the "ranges". I want to ask the doc about that (assuming the blood work this week will show much of the same). Keep the faith!
ReplyDeleteHey Chris & Sue, as you know we all missed you 2 at Francine & Joe's dinner party. I am looking forward to the future ones. You are doing a great job at keeping your chin. When you hit those times that you can't, that's when I will give you a hand, as well as your other friends. I am glad that you are willing to share this with us.
ReplyDeleteNow don't take it 2 hard that the Yanks tied the Britt's on the football field. I will be surprised if we can keep it up.
