All finished with the second dose in the first chemo cycle and I have a week off next week. Two doses down, only 6 to go and getting there slowly. And on a really positive note, I have already experienced a slight reduction in symptoms -not much, but some definite movement in the right direction. Brilliant! It's a great feeling.
One shocker was that I lost 6.5 Lbs in one week! I had the nurse recheck the scale, and sure enough, she was right. Except for Sue and I, of course we were both gobsmacked, no one else seemed particularly bothered. OK, so I guess it's not that unusual. Note to those would-be dieters, steer clear of this one.
My appetite has been pretty good since I started this, which is why the weight loss was a bit of a shock. And provided I eat what my tummy wants, I can down a plate of food in a snap. I ate a good sized prime rib last evening, well done of course. Man it was good. The anti-barf meds are working well.
I met with the oncologist today at the Sloan satellite in Commack, about 15 minutes from my house and I am so pleased that I have been able to switch my appointments to this facility -next round starts June 9th. It's going to be so much easier than the trek to the city, and of course, much lesser cost. And this will make life easier if I were to ever get a job.
So this weekend, I have my SPF 70 sunblock (apparently the Platinum in the chemo makes the body radio sensitive and the skin will burn up in a heartbeat), new beach clothes from Sue for my birthday and a new beach umbrella. Guess where we're heading Sunday... Spot on, well done.
Hope everyone has a brill and safe holiday weekend.
Be well you all,
Chris
